New Release: Phenotype 2.8 Ready for Download
Posted by Nils on 13 February 2009
Concurrently with the launch of the new Phenotype website we published a new release on Sourceforge.
Version 2.8 has a major change concerning form_xy methods of page components. The whole documentation on the new Phenotype website already considers that.
For all of you using Phenotype a bit longer: If you use form_xy methods of a page component now, you don't have to pass on a value any longer, just determine the property a form element stands for. Coincidental you don't have to implement the update method any longer. They user input is stored into it's property automatically for you.
That's a great advantage! Developing page components is now as simple as developing new content objects. I think the old way was quite anachronistic, so I decided to change that behaviour before the "big" relaunch.
It will take you round about 5-10 minutes to update your old components (per component - sorry), but the resulting code usually is by far shorter and more readable. (Take a look at the new PT_DEMO, all components have been transformed).
So there are some more new features, I think I will describe most of them during the next weeks, for now take a look into the changelog here:
